Adriatic Islands
Adriatic Islands as a tourist region spreads throughout all other coastal regions on the Croatian Adriatic - Istria, Kvraner, Northern Dlamatia, Central Dalmatia, Southern Dalmatia. All of the mentioned regions have islands, all of which form a region of it's own - Adriatic Islands region.
Croatian part of the Adriatic coast is one of the most indented coasts on the Mediterranean. Adriatic Islands in Croatia include an impressive number of 1185 islands, most of which are uninhabited. A majority of the Adriatic islands are located within Croatian borders, 1185 of approximately 1200 islands.
Most of the inhabited islands are popular tourist destinations because of crystal clear sea, intact natural environment, easygoing way of life and rich cultural and historic heritage. Three of the islands are national parks - Brijuni island, Mljet island and the archipelago Kornati.
The most popular islands among travelers are Cres, Lošinj, Krk, Rab, Pag, Murter, Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korčula and the Elafiti islands near Dubrovnik.
