Zadar
Zadar is a city located in the Northern Dalmatia region of Croatian Adriatic. Zadar is the biggest town in the region, it is a political and cultural center of Northern Dalmatia. Zadar as a tourist destination is popular among families with small children because of shallow pebble and sandy beaches with lots of shade. Within Zadar riviera, the most popular places for tourists are Nin, Zaton, Petrčane, Biograd, Sukošan, Sv. Filip i Jakov and Pakoštane. In Zadar and it's surroundings are located numerous hotels, camps, villas and bungalows.
The most unique attraction in Zadar is the Sea organ - an architectural object and an experimental musical instrument which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps. The waves create somewhat random but harmonic sounds. Zadar is the origin of the famous liquor Maraschino, a bittersweet, clear liqueur flavored with Marasca cherries.
Besides cultural and historical heritage in Zadar, Nin and Biograd, this destination is surrounded by national parks Plitvička jezera, Paklenica, Krka, Kornati and Velebit. Those five national parks are a true gems of Croatian natural heritage.
Zadar is nautical paradise because of it's archipelago of hundred islands and numerous marinas with more than 5.000 berths.
Zadar has good traffic connections to the rest of Europe either by road, air or sea. Zadar airport is just a half an hour drive from the city, and newly built motorway Dalmatina connects it with Zagreb and Split within 2-3 hours.
